up to date
And the next step was to scale it up
this gives a much clearer idea of what I'm aiming at,
I then went about ordering the bricks, I had to seriously scale back the number of bricks I would use, being poor is very annoying, I did look into just finding bricks, which i did find some but not Any, never in very good condition and usually paving bricks which is missing the point.
So in the end I ordered 20 bricks from a building suppliers, so i went about reorganizing the ley out of the bricks,
and this is the scale model i came up with
So now I'm waiting for my frame to be made up to suspend the bricks from...

Now I'm mainly focusing on the bricks, I'm also still looking in to buildngs and colour, but thats is mainly just to keep it in my head for later on. Because I want to keep an eye on constuction and slightly abusive colours like megenta, which I hope to use later on with the outlook to creating an atmosphere.
After my progress reviwe thought I was told to consotrate on construction. so Now I'm working on bringing up the scale of pieces.
I'm going to scale this up by around ten, using card, and using twine to hold it because the size of the supports in this model really weigh it down. But i have yet to think about how I'm goin to support it.
I made an extra large brick, becuse I had already done so much minitures, I want to experiment with texture on the side, to I plan to do pva and tissue, sugar, dirt and acrilic paint texture each on one side of the brick but have it all a uniform colour. so far I'v gotten to the pva and tissue texture,

I wanted to explore form and get used to translating idea's into 3d shapes, i began making models from picture of buildings around limerick, that I thought had an oppressive or domineering feel.
I began by looking at perspective, which lead to my whole idea of oppressive architecture. I went out out to get some photos of this in limerick, but I thought that I was merly forcing an oppressive nature on the buildings. So I went again.
This time looking at the the buildings that seemed blunt, which I see as being connected weather or not there oppressive.
And now using that information.
Starting off very simple
then I began making my own buildings which I thought had an obvious overbearing quality.
I also want ito use colour, abusive in your face colours the kind that hurt your eye's that on some thing large overbearing and oppressive I think can give an unerving quality, like richard serras slightly tilted large iron sculptures.
the obvious conatation toward oppressive architecture containing the escaping colour |
I also hate red brick so I decided to look at it in away that would seem freer. I'm only at the beginning of this thought process, so I'll have more thoughts on this in the next blog. I made some little brick and had the idea of suspending them
This I am looking forward to exploring.
