I began by looking at perspective, which lead to my whole idea of oppressive architecture. I went out out to get some photos of this in limerick, but I thought that I was merly forcing an oppressive nature on the buildings. So I went again.

This time looking at the the buildings that seemed blunt, which I see as being connected weather or not there oppressive.

And now using that information.

I wanted to explore form and get used to translating idea's into 3d shapes, i began making models from picture of buildings around limerick, that I thought had an oppressive or domineering feel.
Starting off very simple

and growing more descriptive as I got used to the medium

then I began making my own buildings which I thought had an obvious overbearing quality.
I also want ito use colour, abusive in your face colours the kind that hurt your eye's that on some thing large overbearing and oppressive I think can give an unerving quality, like richard serras slightly tilted large iron sculptures.

the obvious conatation toward oppressive architecture containing the escaping colour
I also hate red brick so I decided to look at it in away that would seem freer. I'm only at the beginning of this thought process, so I'll have more thoughts on this in the next blog. I made some little brick and had the idea of suspending them

This I am looking forward to exploring.

urban enviornment

I am looking into the opressive nature of architecture in limerick city, within this I hope to show the ominious feel in architecture, and the many different factors that can affected the feel of the urban enviornment.
